P&G celebrates yet another milestone of touching and improving Pakistani lives through community programs

Islamabad, March 16, 2011: Procter & Gamble Pakistan has taken another step in realizing its Purpose of touching and improving Pakistani lives through the P&G Home at SOS Children’s Village in Islamabad. The Home houses 11 orphaned children who were affected by the devastating earthquake of 2005.

Sharing his thoughts on this initiative, Omeir Dawoodji, Country External Relations Manager, P&G Pakistan said, “P&G is committed to touching and improving the lives of Pakistanis now and for generations to come. The P&G Home at SOS Children’s Village Islamabad signifies our commitment to give back to the Pakistani community over the long-term by sowing seeds for a brighter future. We hope that this Home will provide the 11 adorable children, who lost their loved ones in the earthquake, a chance to live a normal life.” He further added: “This is a momentous occasion for P&G in Pakistan as we are celebrating 20 years of faithfully investing in the community and bringing to life our corporate cause - Live, Learn and Thrive (LLT). Under the LLT umbrella, P&G corporate as well as brand programs have reached over 21 million Pakistanis to date.”

Sharing her views, Suraiya Anwar, President, SOS Children’s Village Pakistan, said, “The primary objective of SOS Children’s Villages of Pakistan is to provide children deprived of their natural parents a situation which is as close as possible to a natural Home. We are grateful to P&G for partnering with us in an endeavour to give the orphaned children a normal existence by equipping them to succeed in life.”

P&G has joined hand with SOS Children’s Villages of Pakistan which is a private social welfare organization providing orphans and abandoned children a Home, good nurturing and an equal chance in life. These children will live under SOS care until they are able to lead an independent life. This project is P&G Pakistan’s first long-term community relations initiative in orphan-care.

The aim of this program is to fulfill the primary need of children deprived of their natural parents to be placed in a situation which is as close as possible to a Home. The P&G Home at SOS Children’s Village in Islamabad will provide the children with security, love, care and help develop skills for life that will enable them to thrive.
