Karachi, February 16th, 2013: P&G Pakistan recently announced the launch of its Social Commitment Report - 2013 at its Annual Stakeholders' Dinner reception hosted by Mr. Faisal Sabzwari, Country Manager P&G Pakistan. The report encompasses P&G's efforts to touch and improve lives of Pakistani children in need through its Live, Learn and Thrive (LLT) corporate cause.
P&G's LLT program focuses on 3 aspects of a child's development. It aims to provide children with: i) opportunities that can help ensure a healthy start to life through safe drinking water, nutrition and hygiene programs, ii) access to educational facilities, tools and programs that enhance the ability to learn by building schools and providing supplies and iii) programs that build self-esteem, life skills, inter-personal skills and independent-living skills for disabled children.
"P&G is dedicated to its Purpose of touching and improving lives. We believe every child should have access to quality education, health and hygiene awareness and skill-development programs. We hope our efforts lead to a better future for individuals, communities and the country as a whole", said Yassin Attas, P&G's Communications Director for Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan, who was also present at the launch. "Thus far, we have touched and improved lives of over 28 million Pakistani children and we are committed to continue our efforts in the years to come".
Through the "Keeping the HOPE Alive" and "Safe Schooling for Building Futures" initiatives, P&G has partnered with Health Oriented Preventive Education (HOPE) and READ Foundation respectively to provide quality education to underprivileged children in their own neighborhoods and help improve the literacy rate in Pakistan. The P&G Children's Safe Drinking Water (CSDW) program aims to combat the high number of mortalities caused amongst children due to unsafe drinking water. The CSDW program uses P&G's water purification packets to purify dirty water making it ft for drinking. P&G Pakistan has several other initiatives which focus on the development of children in Pakistan. These include the Safeguard Sehat-O-Safai School Education Program, Pampers Hospital Education Program, Always School Education Program and P&G Home at SOS Children's Village Islamabad. Details of these programs and heartwarming stories of their beneficiaries are wonderfully captured in the P&G Pakistan Social Commitment Report 2013.
One such story is of Syed Arsalan Hussain, former student of P&G-READ Foundation School "The quality of education I have received at the P&G-READ Foundation School has given me the opportunity to fulfill my dream of becoming an engineer. What I am today and what I will be achieving in my life is largely linked to the solid foundation I received in my school education. My learned teachers and the friendly learning environment at the school were the driving force that helped me excel in my education. I have fond memories of my school life and of the love and care we received from P&G and its employees to deal with the traumatic effects of the earthquake. It also reminds me of my responsibility to society."
