Sustainability at P&G

For P&G, sustainability is about ensuring a better quality of life today, for people and the planet. P&G incorporates sustainability in its products and services making these in an environmentally responsible manner and through social responsibility programs that improve lives for those in need around the world.

As part of its strategy to grow responsibly, P&G is working towards a long-term environmental sustainability vision that includes:

  • Powering P&G plants with 100% renewable energy
  • Using 100% renewable or recycled materials for all products and packaging
  • Having zero consumer and manufacturing waste go to landfills
  • Designing products that delight consumers while maximizing conservation of resources

In line with the Company's vision, P&G plants in Pakistan continue to innovate, delighting consumers with quality products and services whilst conserving the world's resources. P&G plants at Port Qasim and Hub have been working extensively towards the Company's environmental sustainability goals. Since 2010, both P&G plants have delivered 17%, 21%, 12%, and 16% reduction in energy, waste, water and CO2 respectively, by promoting sustainability practices amongst employees as well as with suppliers, customers and partners.

The P&G Plant at Hub has built and runs a state-of-the-art waste treatment facility designed to protect the environment. The P&G plant at Port Qasim incorporates environmental sustainability in its design, construction and operation by using latest innovations such as energy efficient processes and equipment, digitized e-systems, recycling of waste water back into the process and sustainable landscaping.

The P&G plant at Port Qasim recently achieved a very significant milestone of becoming a 'Zero Waste to Landfill' P&G site. This is the first P&G site in the Middle East and Asia region to achieve this status, taking it into the elite 'Hall of Fame' sites across the P&G globe. The plant will no longer send any waste to landfill areas and all the waste will be reused, recycled, composted or incinerated with energy recovery. This is an incredible achievement in the plant's environmental sustainability journey contributing to P&G's long-term vision.
