Keeping the HOPE Alive

Keeping the HOPE Alive is an initiative under which P&G has partnered with Health Oriented Preventive Education (HOPE), to provide free-of-cost quality education to children from impoverished backgrounds in their very own neighborhoods. The objective of this initiative is to set up and fully support P&G-HOPE Home Schools to fight illiteracy. There are 60 informal P&G-HOPE schools in Karachi and Thatta through which over 2400 children have received quality education in the homes of trained teachers to date.
P&G has continuously supported the training of HOPE teachers. Custom-designed training sessions have been organized with the help of reputed institutes such as The Citizens Foundation and Teachers Resource Center. These trainings focused on improving the multi-grade teaching system integrated within the P&G-HOPE Home schools.

Through the Keeping the HOPE Alive program, children get the opportunity to enjoy regular educational and fun-filled field trips. These experiences help build their knowledge as well as confidence through regular interaction with P&G employee volunteers.

The long-term partnership between P&G and HOPE has contributed immensely towards educational improvement for the past years, resulting in quality education, women empowerment and increase in literacy rates amongst deprived families. The Keeping the HOPE Alive program has come full cycle. 4 bright and talented students who completed their Matriculation from the P&G-HOPE Home School now run their own P&G-HOPE Home Schools. Moreover, after completion of their secondary education at the P&G-HOPE Home Schools, several students are working as field workers in various organizations whilst others are pursuing higher education.

"P&G has taken up a very important cause of educating children across Pakistan. Through the P&G-HOPE long-term partnership we are reaching out to children in remote areas, providing quality education they would otherwise not have access to. P&G's commitment to this cause goes beyond the company to its employees who contribute towards this noble cause. With continuity of this long-term commitment we can make a meaningful impact in the lives of these children."
