Procter & Gamble donates over PHP50 million in kind for Typhoon Yolanda Relief

Procter & Gamble Distributing (Phils.), Inc. does its share in Super Typhoon Haiyan (Local name: Yolanda) relief efforts. P&G has initially pledged over Php 50 million in product donations to various charitable organizations. This includes essential personal care and household products like Safeguard anti-bacterial soap, Pantene, Head & Shoulders, and Rejoice shampoos, Whisper sanitary pad, Pampers diaper, Duracell batteries, Ariel and Tide laundry detergents, and Joy dishwashing liquid.

P&G continues to be committed to our mission to touch lives and improve life. In the aftermath of Super Typhoon Haiyan, P&G reaches out to millions of affected families to give them these everyday basics to help restore a sense of normalcy. “The devastation in many parts of the Visayas is heartbreaking. As a company that has been in the Philippines over the last 78 years, it is our duty to help alleviate the situation of Filipinos in need,” says Sumeet Vohra, President and General Manager.

P&G also worked with ABS-CBN’s Sagip Kapamilya to provide trucks to distribute their relief goods in Tacloban City and surrounding areas.

Donation of P&G products is just one of the ways the company will help these Filipinos in need. In partnership with World Vision and Save the Children, P&G dispatched over 1 million sachets of P&G Purifier of Water. Each sachet eliminates parasites, bacteria and pollutants in up to 10 liters of water, making 10 million liters of contaminated water safe to drink.

The company is also organizing AidCouture, the first-ever Philippine Red Cross pre-loved clothing sale. This sale will be launched this weekend on November 16 & 17 at Alabang Town Center. Over the years, Red Cross has received designer clothing that fit for use by calamity victims. For AidCouture, P&G makes these pre-loved items like new by washing them with Ariel and Downy. Laundry services were provided by Suds Laundromat for free. Proceeds from the sale of these items will enable the Red Cross to buy food and medicine.

Mr. Vohra adds, “There is a lot of work that needs to be done to help millions of Filipinos rebuild their lives. P&G will help in any way we can – whether it’s providing much-needed hygiene products or helping raise money through a clothing sale. We will continue to look for ways to touch and improve the lives of Filipinos in our continued Super Typhoon Haiyan relief efforts and in the years to come.”
