Procter & Gamble supports the Rashid Centre for the Disabled

P&G to provide both funding and volunteering to the Rashid Centre for the Disabled as part of the company’s commitment to the UAE’s local community

Procter & Gamble (P&G) has partnered with the Rashid Centre for the Disabled, a Dubai-based organization which provides education and therapy services to children with special needs, to both fund initiatives at the Centre as well as support on-the-ground efforts through corporate volunteering. The agreement covers the sponsorship of a learning difficulties class and will include the donation of P&G products as well as ongoing, long-term corporate volunteering and off-site events for Rashid Centre for the Disabled.

“We’re delighted to have received the support of Procter & Gamble,” says Mariam Othman, Director of the Rashid Centre for the Disabled. “The funds provided to us by P&G and the corporate volunteers who will be supporting us over the course of the year will make a marked improvement to the well-being of the children at the center.”

The Rashid Centre for the Disabled is a humanitarian organisation which provides quality education and therapy services to children with special needs. The Centre provides a holistic multi-disciplinary approach to special education. Each child receives a programme specially designed to meet his or her individual needs, and parents are encouraged to participate in all aspects of the centre’s functioning and to be actively involved in their child’s education.

“We’re very excited to partner with the Rashid Centre for the Disabled, to support them over the coming year and hopefully beyond this period,” said Alex Malouf, Corporate Communications Manager, Arabian Peninsula, P&G. “We believe in giving back to the local community and our values as a company reflect our approach to corporate social responsibility. We strongly believe in what the Rashid Centre for the Disabled is striving to achieve and we’re looking forward to volunteering in the Center on behalf of the children and their families.”

Doing the right thing is the foundation of P&G’s Purpose, Values, and Principles. P&G’s social responsibility strategy focuses on two areas – comforts of home, whereby P&G provides everyday essentials that help create the experience of home for families who can’t afford them or who have been displaced, and health and hygiene, through which P&G supports hygiene education and everyday healthy behavior changes that prevent illness and improve confidence. P&G has been involved in numerous causes locally in the GCC, including campaigns with UNICEF to raise funds to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus, partnerships with special needs charities in Saudi Arabia to help improve medical services for disabled children, and helping to organize sports festivals in both the UAE and Saudi Arabia for residents with disabilities.
