Cyber Security: A Shared Responsibility

For years, P&G has provided valuable information and cyber security resources to help you keep your personal information safe. That's why we were thrilled President Barack Obama took an interest in this year's National Cyber Security Awareness Month. In his official online video, the President states that the technologies we depend on every day bring "both great promise and great peril." Not only have millions of Americans been victimized by cyber crimes and stolen identities, but cyber terrorism poses a threat to our national security.

President Obama says, "In this interconnected world, our vulnerability is shared and so is our responsibility to protect ourselves." And we couldn't agree more. P&G only collects personal information we absolutely need, and then we protect that information to keep you safe online. We work to inform consumers like you like you about cyber security and work to promote safe practices online.

The President outlines a few easy steps for cyber protection:
  1. Keep your security software updated.
  2. Watch out for suspicious emails.
  3. Always know who you are communicating with online.
  4. Use caution when giving out your personal or financial information.
There are so many ways to protect your identity and improve cyber security. Our article, Smart Shopping, Online and Off, gives you the dos and don'ts of online shopping. Look Both Ways: Privacy Tips to Teach Your Young Children is a guide for sharing information online. And we show you how to be safe on social networking sites in Social Networking: Help Your Kids Find the Right Friends.

As always, P&G will continue to provide you with important information and tips for cyber protection. View our other privacy articles, and check back often for the latest cyber security news.
