P&G Responds to Tsunami Disaster
P&G continues to work closely with our safe water partners, AmeriCares® and Population Services International (PSI), as well as Samaritan's Purse®, CARE®, UNICEF and International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies to deliver  water purification sachets to the tsunami stricken areas.
Our partners have told us they can use all the  sachets we can make. We've already provided virtually our entire supply, so the production teams in Pakistan and the Philippines have pulled together — as P&Gers always do — to determine how to make more as fast as possible.
We've also advised our partners that we'll donate an additional 13 million sachets with a value of about $1 million. This is in addition to our earlier contribution of $1.5 million ($1 million in sachets and $500,000 in cash to partner organizations for product distribution). That's a total of 28 million sachets, which will make 280 million liters — or more than 1 billion glasses — of purified water.
Also, as previously announced, the P&G Fund has established a special disaster relief program that will match employee and retiree contributions to three partner organizations: AmeriCares, PSI and International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
