P&G

Manati Plant

P&G Pharmaceuticals employs close to 150 employees in manufacturing, engineering and management positions. Our 35-acre site is located in Manati, approximately 40 minutes west of San Juan. The Manati Valley, together with the town of Barceloneta, composes the "World's Pharmaceutical Center," where all major players in the pharmaceutical field have major operations in Puerto Rico.

Procter & Gamble Pharmaceutics Puerto Rico, Inc. was built in 1974 by Norwich Eaton Pharmaceuticals and acquired by P&G in 1982. The site has a new solid dosage form facility to make two new products in a 30,000 square foot building with the newest technology in the field. It produces: Macrodantin® (antibacterial agent for UTIs), Furadantin® (first generation Nitrofurantoin), Dantrium® (controls spasticity resulting from spinal cord injury), Didronel® (first generation diphosphomate that grows bone tissue to help women with osteoporosis; sold in Europe and Canada), Actonel® (helps prevent bone loss and protect bones).
