P&G’s worldwide External Relations
organizations manage the communications
and relationship with the many third parties
who help us understand the societies in
which we work – and whose opinions
and decisions can influence our freedom
to operate, the success of our business,
and the reputation of our Company and our
brands.
These include legislators, regulators,
journalists, beauty editors, advertising
clearance authorities, medical and veterinary
professionals, environmental scientists,
consumer associations and Non Government
Organizations.
These relationships provide knowledge and
insight which we bring back into the Company,
ensuring that all our decisions are taken
with a full understanding of the needs,
concerns and interests of third parties.
And we work to ensure these organizations
and individuals in turn understand, respect
and support the decisions we take and the
actions that flow from these decisions.
Just
this year we have:
- Managed product issues in Germany,
the Middle East, and Hong Kong
- Led major company announcements, including
the company’s largest acquisition
in our history – Gillette.
- Executed major national news coverage
for our CEO, and other senior company
officers
- Maintained electronic feedback capability
that lets employees from every region
in the world provide input to senior management
on company direction
- Launched redesign of P&G’s
intranet, mypg.com which won national
recognition on the prestigious Nielson
Norman Group’s “Top 10 Intranets
for 2005”
- Led the company’s philanthropic
Children’s Safe Drinking Water program
which was recognized by several global
organizations for making important contributions
to children and families without access
to safe drinking water
- Developed PR programs that led to prominent
global exposure for our brands
- Led corporate reputation work that
led to major recognition, for example
P&G’s recognition as “Marketer
of the Year” by Advertising Age
and Brandweek; in the top ten of the “World’s
Most Respected Companies” by the
Financial Times; and, in the top ten of
the “Most Admired Global Companies”
by Fortune Magazine
