Research & Development

R&D is the technology link between the idea and the product connecting technology to the consumer.

R&D at P&G is at the core of our commercial success. With superior science and technology as the foundation, we convert products into brands.

Job Types and Titles

  • Researcher
  • Scientist/Engineer

Researchers

Researchers' knowledge, science, and technical skills touch many different aspects of our future and current brands.

Researchers have many opportunities to make an impact. As a worldwide company with global products and a focus on Research & Development at all phases (from initial idea exploration and product development to product launch and improvement), you will have the ability to switch to other challenging assignments, Business Units, or R&D Operations. The best part is that we have all these businesses and opportunities under one roof so you don't have to change companies to do it.

Scientist/Engineer

The Scientist/Engineer Entry Level requires the highest evaluations against all P&G criteria. You’ll need to demonstrate academic excellence from school to university, and we normally expect a higher/superior degree or Ph.D. Scientists/Engineers are expected to solve significant technical problems and lead the innovation process.

Advancement Opportunities

R&D's Technical Career System (TCS)

Bring your education, experience and scientific knowledge to P&G and we'll keep you growing and developing your skills and areas of expertise. The TCS provides an integrated career path for all R&D employees who may enter at differing points on the path based on their education, experience and area of specialization. Progression depends on excellence in technical results, and developing mastery, innovation and collaboration.

What's Typical in Career Progression?

Everyone's different and comes into the company at the level their education, background and experience has best prepared them. Typically, most employees progress through 3 levels of promotion covering their career. These levels offer challenge, growth and fulfillment. A small percentage will exceed these 3 typical career levels and move into competition with higher-level managers within the function and push the boundaries with their exceptional results and achievements. For these exceptional employees, TCS allows unfettered growth and success.

Flexible Career Path

Just as TCS recognizes different entry points, it also recognizes different types of higher leadership within the R&D function. For example: Highly technical scientists who aspire to a career of scientific excellence are rewarded with positions of increasing levels of scientific independence and responsibility. And those technical individuals who wish to increase their contribution by managing the research business, by managing projects, personnel and budgets, are rewarded with opportunities to manage increasingly large and diverse R&D organizations.

Bottom Line for Your Career

P&G's R&D Organization offers you the opportunity to stretch, develop and grow your skills and expertise while collaborating with top science professionals. You chart your path; we'll help you get there.

Academic Background

Full Time

One size does not fit all, and in R&D we value the contributions of all our employees with varying educational backgrounds and years of specialization and/or experience. You can enter with a two or four year degree in most science disciplines straight from school as a Researcher.

You can enter with an Engineer Degree or higher-level specialization in science as an Entry-Level Scientist or Engineer. Each entry path is a little different and carries a different level within the Company, but all require the same level of excellence in skill and knowledge.
