P&G and United Way: Enabling a Good Start in Life
There is widespread consensus about the importance of Early Childhood Development and its significant, positive impact on the long-term wellbeing of children. P&G and United Way have partnered to champion this cause in Latin America. “Born Learning” is the program that stimulates development for children up to 6 years old, while also enabling their mothers to work and provide the family a source of much-needed income.
The program comes to life across Latin America, adapted to local needs and circumstances. P&G employee volunteers are engaged in different ways, contributing their skills by providing hygiene instruction, in maintaining or improving infrastructure, playing and devoting time to children, and sharing their skills with adults in the community.
The program has received ample recognition, including and most notably the “Best Practices in Social Responsibility 2011” awarded by Cemefi, AliaRSE and Forum Empresa in Mexico.
