P&G's Commitment to Haiti Disaster Relief February 17th Update

Posted on 17-Feb-2010

P&G's product, cash, and employee and retiree contributions to Haiti now total over $2.75 million.

P&G product donations total more than $2.0 million and include bar soaps, batteries, bleach, cough/cold medications, diapers, dish detergents, feminine hygiene products, flashlights, laundry detergents, paper towels, shampoos, snacks, toilet tissue, tooth brushes, toothpaste, Vaporub, and wipes.

Additionally, P&G will distribute 6 million packets of PUR, a technology that purifies contaminated water. This quantity is enough to treat 60 million liters of water…a 3 month supply for 340,000 people. PUR packets are being distributed by several relief organizations including AmeriCares, CARE, Global Medic, PSI, Pure Compassion Ministries, Samaritan's Purse and World Vision. More information on P&G's Children's Safe Drinking Water Program can be found at www.csdw.org.

P&G also partnered with BET to present a Haiti benefit concert on February 5. P&G's Children's Safe Drinking Water (CSDW) was a beneficiary of donations from the fundraising event to help provide even more safe drinking water for victims of the earthquake. The concert - "SOS Saving Ourselves – Help for Haiti" – was a nationally televised concert and celebrity telethon supporting several organizations providing immediate relief in Haiti, including Yéle Haiti, CARE, Project Medishare and CSDW. The official donation total has not yet been released.
