A Shared Vision – Pampers-UNICEF Year V
Alessandra Dolfini, Pampers Marketing Director, P&G UK & Ireland
Every year, 59,000 newborn babies die from maternal and newborn tetanus – yet the tragic reality is that this disease is easily preventable through a simple vaccine. Since 2006 Pampers has partnered with UNICEF to help eliminate maternal and newborn tetanus in the countries where it still exists.
Pampers reaches out to parents with a compelling call to action to help us in our efforts. Between October and December each year, for every specially marked Pampers-UNICEF pack purchased, Pampers donates to UNICEF the cost of one tetanus vaccine to help protect a woman of child-bearing age in the developing world. Over and above the procurement of vaccines, Pampers supports UNICEF by raising awareness of this ‘silent killer’. In 2010 alone, our campaign in Western Europe reached more than half a billion people.
Since 2006, the Pampers-UNICEF campaign has helped protect 100 million women and their babies from maternal and newborn tetanus.
