Karachi, April 26, 2012: Procter & Gamble Pakistan, the makers of world renowned products like Pantene Shampoo, Ariel Detergent and Pampers Diapers initiated an innovative movement in Pakistan titled ‘Thank You Maa’ recognizing the important roles moms play in helping their children achieve their dreams and ambitions. In line with the global partnership between P&G and the International Olympic Committee, P&G also announced its commitment to promote the spirit of sports and Olympic Games amongst the youth globally and in Pakistan.
P&G announced that via this campaign, it will provide Pakistani mothers the opportunity to raise future Olympic athletes from Pakistan. On the purchase of every P&G product including Safeguard, Pampers, Ariel, Pantene, Head & Shoulders and Always a contribution will be made towards the development of sporting facilities in schools across Pakistan. It was estimated that in its first year thousands of children will use the facilities and equipment which will be handed out.
P&G will not only support moms of Olympians in Pakistan, via this initiative, but will also support moms outside the Olympic Games community by helping those whom moms care about the most…their children. Sports play an important role in the development of children keeping them off streets and providing structure and discipline that helps them succeed in life. Sohail Abbas, Pakistan’s hockey star and world record holder of the highest number of penalty goals is one of the key spokesperson for this movement. Sharing his thoughts on the occasion Sohail Abbas said, “I am very excited to be a the spokesperson for this campaign as this gives me yet another opportunity to thank my mom who raised me to be the athlete and champion I am today.” He also said, “I request all Pakistanis to join this movement as this will enable P&G to elevate the level of sports in Pakistan giving our youth an avenue to use their energy positively. I am very hopeful that with this campaign we will be able to raise the passion for sports in the country and raise future Olympians.”
