Corporate Affiliations & Contributions

Since the company's founding in 1837, top management has believed that P&G has a responsibility to use its resources, money, people, and energies for the long-term benefit of society.
The following highlights just a few of the activities P&G supports. These demonstrate our long-standing commitment to being a good corporate citizen and neighbor in all the places we do business around the world.
- The P&G Fund, the company's foundation, contributed $39.5 million last year to educational institutions, health, social service, cultural, civic and environmental organizations. About 60 percent of giving supports education.
- P&G is among the top 10 contributors to United Way organizations in the U.S. P&G and its Cincinnati-based (headquarters) employees and retirees contributed 28 percent of the yearly budget of the Greater Cincinnati United Way, through P&G's yearly campaign.
- P&G regularly contributes money, products and employee volunteers to help when major disasters occur. P&G contributed more than $2.5 million in support of the relief efforts of the World Trade Center disaster on September 11, 2001. This amount included $2 million to the September 11 Fund, $250,000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund and more than $250,000 worth of P&G products that directly helped the on-site relief workers. P&G's manufacturing plants contributed respirators, masks, filters, gloves, and batteries. Please visit our Disaster Relief site to learn more.
- P&G is the largest contributor to America's Second Harvest® a program that takes surplus and damaged but usable products for distribution to less fortunate people throughout the United States. In 1998, the company received the Hunger's Hope Award for its efforts to eradicate hunger.
- P&G brands are major supporters of the Special Olympics International program. Since 1981, P&G brands have contributed more than $23 million to help Special Olympics provide training for its athletes.
- P&G supports school mentoring programs throughout the world via its partnership with the General Federation of Women's Clubs. Mentoring improves school attendance and performance, and helps students graduate from high school on time with a plan for the future.
- Wherever P&G has facilities, it donates recycled supplies for use by teachers in their classrooms. For example, in Gosforth, United Kingdom, the company donated surplus carpet to the school library. P&G is also the leading corporate donor to Crayons to Computers, a "free" store providing resources for Cincinnati-area teachers.
