Constructed on the Ohio River, the Freedom Center features three pavilions celebrating courage, cooperation and perseverance. BET Awards Show BET Awards Show — BET, a subsidiary of Viacom, is the nation's leading television network providing quality entertainment, music, news and public affairs programming for the African-American audience. The BET Awards Show, entitled "Awards Show Etiquette," highlights a range of things that happen at award shows from the emotional crying scenes by winners on stage to the outrageous fashions worn by celebrities.
Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Congressional Black Caucus Foundation — The goals of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) are to positively influence the course of events pertinent to African-Americans and others of similar experience and situation, and to achieve greater equity for persons of African descent in the design and content of domestic and international programs and services. Regional conferences on public policy are held throughout the country. These conferences are designed to solicit opinions and recommendations of citizens at the community level.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority National Convention Delta Sigma Theta Sorority National Convention — Delta Sigma Theta Sorority was founded in 1913 by twenty-two collegiate women at Howard University. These students wanted to use their collective strength to promote academic excellence and to provide assistance to persons in need.
NAACP Annual Convention NAACP Annual Convention — The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People was founded by a multiracial group of activists to renew the struggle for civil and political liberty. The Convention seeks to achieve equal rights through the democratic process and eliminate racial prejudice by removing racial discrimination in housing, employment, voting, schools, the courts, transportation, recreation, prisons and business enterprises.
National Association of Black Journalists National Association of Black Journalists — Founded by 44 men and women on December 12, 1975, in Washington, D.C., NABJ is the largest organization of journalists of color in the world. Created to strengthen the ties between blacks in the black media and blacks in the white media, NABJ maintains biographical archives, sponsors competitions and works with high schools to identify potential journalists.
National Council of Negro Women National Council of Negro Women — NCNW's mission is to advance the opportunities and the quality of life for African-American women, their families and communities. NCNW fulfills this mission through research, advocacy, national and community-based services, and programs in the United States and Africa. The Black Family Reunion Celebration was created in 1986 by NCNW for the purpose of empowering the African-American family and is held annually in Cincinnati, Ohio and Washington, D.C. This is a weekend of education, inspiration, entertainment and enlightenment that focuses on the historic strengths and traditional values of the African-American family. The promotional elements include local print media and radio.
National Minority Supplier Development Council Annual Conference National Minority Supplier Development Council Annual Conference — Providing a direct link between corporate America and minority-owned businesses is the primary objective of the NMSDC, one of the country's leading business membership organizations. Chartered in 1973, NMSDC provides increased procurement and business opportunities for minority businesses of all sizes.
National Urban League National Urban League Conference — This organization works to eliminate institutional racism and to provide direct service to minorities in areas of employment, housing, education, social welfare, health, family planning, etc.
United Negro College Fund United Negro College Fund — UNCF is the nation's oldest and most successful African-American higher education assistance organization. Its mission is to enhance the quality of education by raising operating funds for its 39 member colleges and universities, providing financial assistance to deserving students and increasing access to technology for students and faculty at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
Radio One Radio One — Women's Empowerment was designed to enhance the lives of African-American women by addressing issues that specifically impact their health, hearts and pocketbooks. Throughout the day, this exposition-styled event offers seminars, workshops, demonstrations, sampling and shopping. As the seventth-largest radio broadcasting company in the United States with 70 African-American stations nationwide, this is one of Radio One's premiere annual events.

Recognizing that beauty and self-confidence are intrinsically linked, My Black is Beautiful is designed to ignite and support a sustained national conversation by, for and about black women and the way they are reflected in popular culture, and serve as a catalyst for a movement that affects positive change.
