Environment and Safety Perspectives
With nearly 300 brands sold throughout the world, P&G's business is influenced by a wide variety of government policies, laws and regulations. We're also affected by new scientific developments that can influence how the safety of P&G products for people and the environment is evaluated. Our P&G Perspectives Web site provides views about a variety of such subjects. Current topics include:
- How P&G implements its safety policy during product development.
- Commentary on public policy issues regarding chemicals management, sustainability and solid waste. Examples include: legislative and regulatory approaches for chemicals management, the precautionary principle, "right-to-know" programs, environmental labeling, sustainable consumption and production, and extended producer responsibility.
- Perspective on emerging scientific developments, such as genomics/toxicogenomics, biomonitoring and children's health.
- Viewpoints on product-related questions, such as using persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic (PBT) "substances of concern" in consumer products.
- Natural resource issues (e.g., energy and climate change) and the use of tools such as life cycle assessment.
